Advocate for and be a leader in promoting wellness and physical activity before school, during school, and after school.
Lead and teach Physical Education Classes and Health and Wellness lessons.
Reflect and improve on teaching using best practices in instruction.
Serve as a resource for classroom and non-classroom teachers on integrating movement into instruction and teaching health and wellness content.
Monitor, model, and correct student participation and behavior during PE class.
Coordinate school wide fitness testing and health and wellness data collection; lead analyzing results and implications for academic and socio-emotional instruction in the regular education classroom.
Use a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences to enhance instruction i.e, visual aids, bulletin boards, apps, study guides, posters, etc.
Monitor student progress toward mastery of standards through frequent formal and informal assessments.
Work as a productive, proactive, and contributing member of a team.
Serve as a model of learning and improvement for students and colleagues.
Plan and co-teach health and wellness topics with classroom teachers.
Serve as a resource person and conduct professional development related to health and wellness.
Participate on MTSS team to provide intervention programming to struggling students Development.
Partner with the Executive Director to research and write grants for health and wellness.
Maintain current data for grant updates and reports.
Annually apply for appropriate awards, provide updates for development to post, do general development outreach about SWA Health and Wellness programming.
Work with Community Engagement Facilitator to create wellness focused parent programming and parent surveys.
Coordinate and monitor programs with external wellness providers
Write updates for Family Newsletter, Family Calendars, etc.
Coordinate special programming, including but not limited to Field Day.
Embrace volunteers as vital members of the SWA community.
Qualifications and Professional Dispositions:
Possess a North Carolina PE Teacher Certification.
Have the physical ability to actively teach Physical Education for up to six hours per day.
Demonstrated successful experience working with a diverse student body.
A deep belief in the potential of all children and a commitment to do whatever it takes to expand opportunities for students.
Hold a strong and positive belief in the mission and vision of the school.
Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
