Job Description
The purpose of this position is to oversee and coordinate various construction projects from start to finish ensuring that schedules and budgets are followed.

  • Provides leadership in initial planning stage by collaborating with District Leadership, architects, engineers, and other involved parties; assisting in the development of future bond packages when needed.
  • Schedules and coordinates projects in logical steps and allocates time necessary to meet each deadline.
  • Prepares and submits budget estimates and regularly communicates with involved parties concerning budget progress and costs. Participates in community meetings that provide updates on bond projects when necessary.
  • Ensures adherence to budget by issuing purchase orders for needed work and approving invoices with appropriate cost tracking codes for services provided.
  • Plans, coordinates, organizes, oversees, and directs activities regarding the construction and maintenance of assigned projects: including utility connections, road improvements, and installation of phone, data, security, and other technology.
  • Evaluates mechanical and electrical system efficiencies; identifying alternate sources if possible.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations, building and safety codes, and other state & local regulations are met in construction by performing onsite inspections and documenting findings.
  • Collaborates with District Leadership, contractors, and design professionals to discuss, provide insight, and resolve issues/concerns when such arise.
  • Manages and leads actions that are necessary due to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites and ensures that any resulting change orders are processed.
  • Assists in furniture procurement.
  • Coordinates “move-in/occupancy” of new construction with all associated departments.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with a variety of people, including District Leadership/Administration, supervisors, tradespersons, and craft workers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Thorough understanding of construction and design principles including contracts, engineering, architectural and other construction drawings (printed and electronics), specifications and regulations. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: 
    • Excel Spreadsheets: creating budgets, tracking expenses and cost analysis
    • PowerPoint: creating project status update presentations
    • Word: drafting internal memos and project documents
    • Outlook: e-mail correspondence
  • Understanding of and ability to edit construction project management software.
Job Qualification
Full Time | 12 Months | Pay Grade OSM2 | Minimum $65,860 annually

  • Minimum: Bachelors with a relevant degree and minimum of seven (7) years experience in construction or design; or equivalent combination of education & experience. 
  • Desirable:  Specialized training in Contract Law, Economics, Scheduling, Surveying, Estimating & Planning. 

  • Desirable: Construction Manager Certification by American Institute of Constructors or Construction Management Association of America.
