Avery County Schools is a Pre-k through 12th grade system serving approximately 2000 students in nine schools. Our district is comprised of five elementary schools, two middle schools, one traditional high school, and one alternative school. Avery County Schools has implemented a 1:1 initiative in our elementary and high schools where each student is provided with a portable technology device and learning is facilitated through the use of this technology.
Avery County Schools serves a largely rural, agricultural district located in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. Avery County Schools strives to maintain community oriented schools where staff members are a part of the communities in which they live and work, giving a sense of family and belonging to students, parents, and staff.
In Avery County Schools we are large enough to offer many educational opportunities, but small enough to know every child's name.
